Ultimately my aim with any logo project is to fully understand the organisation, business or product, and its target audience. I want to understand in detail what I’m designing the logo for and why. Alice provided me with a detailed brief which really helped me to get a good grasp on their aims for the project.
The group liked the idea of using the same logo, but in different colours for the different churches. They have one main church, with two much smaller daughter churches, so they liked the idea that having the same design would clearly link the smaller churches to the main one, but a different colour would allow them to have a bit of their own identity. They felt that incorporating a cross in some way was an important symbol and there were also practical considerations such as the ability to reproduce the logo in black and white (photocopying).
