Whether you are looking to target new customers or offer new services to an existing customer, I will ensure your site is built to the highest industry standards. I take a data-driven approach to website design, ensuring that the site structure reflects your users journey through your site.

All my sites include basic SEO research and planning as standard. I will ensure that you have the tools available to facilitate important on-page SEO.

The site will work seamlessly across a variety of modern browsers and, of course, it will be fully responsive, displaying your content clearly on popular mobile and tablet devices.

What’s the difference between a bespoke WordPress theme vs theme customisations?

In my opinion, there is one key difference between the customisation of an existing WordPress theme and the creation of a bespoke WordPress theme design – one can be changed by you, but the other is made for you.

A bespoke WordPress website designer like me will work with you to create a design that focuses on your visitor’s experience and is sympathetic to your brand. I will build you a custom WordPress theme which will only contain the functionality your site requires.

For example, if you’re a small business which has been using WordPress for a few months. You started with a free theme, but you may have quickly outgrown it, and you now need to update your website with a more professional look. This is no problem and is the preferred route for most developers. Having a site structure and content in place ready to work with is much easier than starting from scratch. Once your custom WordPress website design is prepared and coded, we can switch over from your free theme to the new bespoke version.

Key points to think about when choosing a bespoke theme:

  • A bespoke WordPress website theme design and build usually takes between 4-6 weeks
  • Quality WordPress designers and coders (like me) will often require you to provide content (text & image)*
  • My bespoke WordPress website design and build packages start from £750
  • Full WordPress editor training is included as part of each website design and build package

Why me

Freelancers often make the best website designers for small business as our overheads are a lot less than larger website agencies. This is then reflected in our prices for bespoke WordPress websites. While I don’t offer cheap website design for small business, my website packages provide excellent value for money.

You will not only receive a bespoke WordPress website but also expert advice with regards to best practice website design, website development and search engine optimisation.

My website development process

All of my website projects follow a detailed process, in which there are different stages.

To ensure that the site is completed to the highest standard, it is essential to properly research and plan the site structure, focus keywords and content.

My process (in a nutshell)

1. Your Brief

This is where we first make contact, and you tell me precisely what you are looking for. The cost of my websites is based on the number of pages and functionality required.

2. Keyword research & site structure

At this stage, I will be conducting keyword research on your existing site (if you have one) and your competitor’s websites.

The structure of the website is key to positive user experience and SEO, so this stage is crucial.

3. Moodboards & Wireframes

Once the research stage is complete, we can start the creative process. This begins with mood boards, which is a selection of found website imagery. Your feedback allows me to get an idea of your likes, dislikes and creative preferences.

Using your mood board feedback, I will get to work on the wireframes which are used to establish the hierarchy of information and the position of elements on the page.

4. Content & On-page SEO

Content is key to a successful website. I will need you to provide me with all the text and images for your website. If you require help with image selection and content writing this is something I can advise you on. Search engines like pages with at least 350-500 words, so use that as a starting point.

5. Website design & build

This stage often runs alongside the content stage. The website designs will take in to account all the planning work we’ve done so far as well as incorporating best practice in terms of user experience and structure.

Once you have signed off the design, I start building the WordPress theme templates using HTML, PHP and CSS. I only use industry standard code, including HTML5 to ensure your site is made to the highest standards. This is the most exciting part of the project seeing your designs come to life!

6. Site Review & Snagging

When all the templates have been built, and the content has been added, you can get a first look at your new website. At this stage, small content amends can be made as well as minor style tweaks such as colours, font-sizes, spacing etc.

7. Launch

After I’ve worked through your snags and you have signed the site off it’s time to address the responsive code and do some cross-browser testing. I then run through 20+ checks before launching your new website.

8. WordPress Training & Technical Support

Once live, it’s time to get you using the WordPress CMS (Content Management System) so you can amend your site and keep it updated. All website quotes include 1 hour of Skype training. I will show you the basics of WordPress and how to use your site. You can also enjoy peace of mind with a FREE two week technical support period starting from launch.

A recent project

I helped High Elms Tree Surgery Ltd rebuild their existing static website. They need a modern and easy-to-update platform for their site so they could target new sectors.

High Elms Responsive Showcase

I created a fully bespoke WordPress website using their existing content. This what High Elms owner Alex Morris had this to say about working with CEB Creative:

“Charlotte has been very patient, helpful and been a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend. A breath of fresh air after using several other companies that left us feeling ripped off and underwhelmed.”

Thinking of moving to WordPress?

Whether your current site is an old static HTML, Flash relic or a website builder that you made yourself, moving to WordPress (the most popular CMS on the planet) can completely transform its potential and make it work harder.

Switching to WordPress couldn’t be easier as there are loads of helpful plugins that allow you to migrate content from one platform to another. Even converting an HTML website to WordPress is easy, it merely requires manually copying over the content.

You can migrate to WordPress from most other popular CMS systems such as Magento and Joomla.

Why choose WordPress?

Even if you are new to WordPress, you have probably heard of it before. WordPress is a great CMS system for any website, big or small. It allows you to control your content quickly and keep your website updated. This reduces the cost of ongoing development and maintenance charges.

WordPress powers 30% of the internet.

I choose this popular WordPress content management system (CMS) to create all my websites. WordPress is incredibly popular for several reasons. It’s super easy to use and search engines love it.

The WordPress system offers many features and benefits:

  • It’s open source (free)
  • It’s very user-friendly and great for non-techy people
  • It’s continually developed and supported so stays steps ahead of hackers and threats
  • It’s extendable (there are 1,000s of free plugins that extend its core functionality)
  • It’s compliant with web standards
  • It’s secure and reliable
  • It has excellent built-in tools for SEO
  • Some pretty big brands use WordPress Usain Bolt, SONY, BBC America, The Offical Star Wars Blog and many more
  • WordPress beats Joomla and Drupal when it comes to usage

And regarding on-going website management:

  • Manage all your site content through an easy-to-use editor
  • Upload images, PDFs and media files for inclusion on pages
  • Manage your site’s navigation and structure
  • Write and publish blog articles, so you get found in searches
  • Create image galleries
  • Create, edit and display contact and other forms
  • Manage your SEO
  • Integrate with Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and other social networks
  • Collect visitor sign-ups for HTML marketing
  • Check your visitor stats
  • And much more!

WordPress is a global community with thousands of popular add-ons to enhance its basic functionality. Not convinced? Read more reasons to love WordPress on my blog.

Why choose bespoke

Bespoke WordPress websites only incorporate the functional requirements necessary for the site to fulfil its primary purpose. This ensures the site remains lightweight and straightforward to use. Functionality can be added through the use of code or plugins.

The WordPress plugin directory has around 50 thousand plugins available. I only use highly rated, or premium plugins in my bespoke website builds. This ensures the site’s longevity and security.
